Orange (from henna leaves)

Description

Freshly plucked henna leaves (mehendi pata) are torn by hand and ground to a rough paste on the shil nora (traditional grinding stones). The paste is then squeezed to obtain an orange liquid, which is then mixed with natural glue made from wood-apples (bel-er atha), and strained through a cotton cloth. The colour thus produced is placed on hollowed out coconut shells.
